Make the choice.
Keep the good part.
Picking a name should be the easy part. Whether you’re bringing a classroom together, choosing the next presenter, or settling the lunch debate, this free wheel of names makes an everyday decision a shared little moment.
- 01 /
Add your possibilities
Paste a class roster, a list of ideas, or your friends’ names. Put one choice on each line, or separate choices with commas. The wheel updates as you type.
- 02 /
Make it feel like you
Choose a palette, shuffle the list, and turn on a celebration sound if you like. Giving everyone a turn? Switch on automatic winner removal.
- 03 /
Give chance a moment
Press Spin and watch the choice unfold. Keep the winner or remove their entry, check previous results, and spin again when you’re ready.
The suspense is for fun.
The randomness is real.
Every entry gets an equal slice and an equal chance. The browser selects the result using its secure random generator, then the wheel brings that result to life. No hidden weighting or adjustable outcomes.
- One entry, one chance. With eight entries, each has a 1 in 8 chance per spin. Adding the same name twice gives that name two chances.
- A fresh choice, every time.Previous spins don’t affect future results. Remove winning entries if you want to work through a whole group.
- Private where it matters.Your list is processed on your device. Sharing is your choice, and a share link contains the names you include.
A more involved classroom
Add students’ first names to select a reader, start a discussion, or assign presentation order. Enable winner removal to give every student a turn before restoring the class list.
A fresh start for your team
Rotate who leads a check-in, pick an icebreaker question, or choose which idea to discuss first. Open fullscreen so everyone can follow the same result together.
A little everyday adventure
Make a short list of restaurants you’d all enjoy, movies you want to watch, or weekend activities. Let the wheel settle a friendly tie and spend more time enjoying the choice.
Good questions.
Simple answers.
What does “Can’t predict” do?
Turn it on for a last-second surprise: the wheel slows toward one entry, then either stays on that slice, nudges forward one slice, or nudges backward one slice. Each outcome has a one-in-three chance. The real winner is still selected with equal odds before the animation starts. Only the final result enters your history or is removed. Adjacent slices can have the same name if your list contains duplicates. The nudge is skipped when reduced motion is enabled.
Is this wheel of names free?
Yes. You can spin, edit lists, change themes, save your entries in this browser, and share a wheel without an account or payment.
How does the wheel pick a random name?
Your browser uses crypto.getRandomValues to select an entry. Rejection sampling avoids modulo bias, so each entry has an equal probability. The result is chosen first, and the animation then lands on its segment. Colors, list order, and spin timing do not change the odds.
Can someone win more than once?
By default, entries stay on the wheel after a spin. Turn on “Let everyone have a turn” to remove each winning entry when you continue from the result. You can restore removed entries in the Results tab. Duplicate names are separate entries; remove duplicates if each person should have one chance.
Can I save or share my wheel?
Your entries and preferences are saved on this device when browser storage is available. Share this wheel copies a link containing your current names. Anyone with that link can read them, so avoid including sensitive information. Results last for the current session; export them from the Results tab to keep a copy.
How many names can I add?
Use between 2 and 100 entries, separated by new lines or commas. Longer labels are shortened visually on the wheel, and labels are hidden above 32 entries for readability. The complete selected name still appears in the winner dialog.
Does it work on a phone or a classroom screen?
Yes. The controls adapt to small screens, and supported browsers can open the wheel in fullscreen for a projector or presentation. Use the center button, the button below the wheel, or the Space key when you are not typing. Reduced-motion preferences are respected.
